{"id":2637,"date":"2021-08-05T14:53:36","date_gmt":"2021-08-05T14:53:36","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.hiremaster.com\/trucking-news\/?p=2637"},"modified":"2021-08-05T14:57:13","modified_gmt":"2021-08-05T14:57:13","slug":"big-g-ride-breaks-records-again-eyes-milestone-next-year","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.hiremaster.com\/trucking-news\/other-news\/2021\/08\/05\/big-g-ride-breaks-records-again-eyes-milestone-next-year\/2637\/","title":{"rendered":"Big G Ride Breaks Records Again, Eyes Milestone"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>By Al Muskewitz<\/strong><br><br>After breaking more records again this year, Tim Chellette is looking to cross two big milestones next year with his Big G Motorcycle Ride for St. Jude\u2019s Children\u2019s Research Hospital.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"alignleft is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.hiremaster.com\/trucking-news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/02\/IMG_2036.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-2014\" width=\"154\" height=\"231\"\/><figcaption><strong>CHELLETTE<\/strong><\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>With an assist from the Tennessee Trucking Association, Chellette, a decorated driver for Shelbyville-based Big G Express, drew 187 bikes and raised $32,250 for St. Jude\u2019s from his annual motorcycle ride through scenic middle Tennessee.<br><br>He expects next year\u2019s seventh annual ride, already scheduled for June 4, to draw more than 200 bikes and take its all-time contribution over $100,000.<br><br>Partnering with Tennessee Trucking Foundation, the charity arm of the Tennessee Trucking Association, provided a big boost for the ride\u2019s exposure. Their officials were excited about coming aboard and were impressed when they saw the ride in action.<br><br>\u201cThey helped me out quite a bit,\u201d Chellette said. \u201cThey were with me for the auction and all that and were like wow, this is just unbelievable. They\u2019re definitely looking forward to next year.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"alignright\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"213\" height=\"210\" src=\"https:\/\/www.hiremaster.com\/trucking-news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/08\/IMG_7696.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-2639\"\/><figcaption><strong>Challenge coins were among<\/strong><br><strong>the new novelties this year.<\/strong><\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Although he anticipated a big draw, Chellette admitted he was a little worried early in the day.<br><br>\u201cWe were at about 125 bikes and I\u2019m like they\u2019re just not coming, surely they\u2019re going to be coming around the corner,\u201d he said. \u201cJust about the time I got the words out of my mouth, 48 bikes come in there. I was just beside myself.<br><br>\u201cI tell people it\u2019s just amazing how much people care and are willing to give for children like that. That\u2019s what keeps me going and keeps me excited for next year, when I see the outpouring of people coming in and willing to do that. Now I\u2019m thinking what can I do to make it bigger and better for the children.
